This is of course an aphorism, and as such intended to encapsulate or summarize, to protest and affirm - a whole constellation of possible or actual ideas, attitudes and practices. I am interested to see what kind of response - if any - this one provokes. Of course, it may be that some of my readers simply see the point immediately, and respond with a Yes! or some other affirmation. Let's see ....

Recently I have been paying more attention to Facebook than to my Weebly blog, so I have decided to re-publish some of those Facebook postings here to see if anyone pays any attention to my utterances here. 18 October 2015 Laughter is dangerous; one is liable to be misunderstood and even assaulted or murdered by someone who takes offence at one's laughter. Ridicule is a two edged sword. I'm not saying don't laugh - far from it. But laugh with someone and not at their expense, otherwise you may find yourself in deep trouble. By all means have a mischievous sense of humour, but use it wisely! 17 October 2015 t's always possible to mistrust what another says simply because we do not know much, perhaps nothing at all, about them. But friendship, and ethical societies and communities cannot be built with this attitude. Unless someone asserts something really stupid or downright unethical or we have some other good reason to mistrust them - and even, sometimes, when we do - it is necessary, at first, to give them the benefit of the doubt. With favourable experience, then, acquaintance and even opposition may blossom into friendship. 16 October 2015
